You'll probably find that Tesco will have this wine on a better than half price deal or something similar in a few weeks. It's probably this artificially high price at the moment so that they can sell it cut price later.
Still a rip off!0 -
Certainly will be when one of their spies read this lol
Had a moan about a Sainsburys rip off the other week even emailed them surprise surprise item price dropped by about 60p still dearer than where i had seen them elsewhere
Like somebody said at the time you'd end up doing your weekly shop buying a bit from each of the supermarkets to get the best prices on each individual item.
Just don't like the way they treat customers like idiots who don't know what's going on.
Got to admit i do like the Iceland easy pricing policy (everything rounded up or down to a £ or 50p) Can get some good bargains in there.0 -
i bought this in tesco last week as part of their meal deal - yes the wine was £8.99, but i also got pepper steak, a potato side dish, and sticky toffee puddings (all to serve 2) so not such a bad deal!
prices vary wildly from shop to shop so if there's something you especially want it's worth hunting around for the best deal...0 -
That particular wine always retailed in ASDA/Tesco at £3.99 until a few months ago when it started appearing in their half price deals or 3 for £10. They bump the price up as previous posters have said and then drop it in a half price offer to what it always retailed at before. Problem is, as long as we continue to buy it from these stores they'll continue to do this with their prices...
Iceland here I come0 -
Great
My local Iceland has now run out of this
And they are not sure if they are getting anymore
Just my luck0 -
Isla Negra is a very nice drinkable wine. It quite often figures in the Supermarket half price deals when they reduce a £7.99 wine to £3.99.
Now I wonder why they never offer a £3.99 wine for £1.99 under these offers?
Well I think we all know the answer to that one.0 -
Because a good half of the price of a bottle of wine goes in tax in this country!!!!!!!!!!!What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0

It's £3.99 in Co-Op at the moment. Had some last night - lovely.
Red Isla Negra is one of my faves but I only ever buy it when on the £3.99 offer at Tesco.Dry January: 31/31 days. :T0 -
Are they the same wine?
Tesco often have the Reserva which is more than the standard Merlot.JULES
DMP:LBM May 2008 £50,970.68
December 2013 £0
Thanks to Stepchange
PPI reclaimed £13,157.58 :Thanks to MSE and Martin0 -
Tescos are shockingly bad for wine offers (or lack of them)
I've never even thought to look at Iceland for wine, maybe I shouldI find Asda usually have the best offers - though for this weekend only Netto had Gallo Family Cabernet Sauvignon for 3 for £10, its usually about £8 in tescos and very seldom in Asdas offers.
Needless to say I cleared the shelf. I couldn't believe that somebody hadn't before me.Just because you are offended, doesn't mean you are right0
