Manchester Utd tickets

I want to by my boyfriend a pair of tickets for the utd v liverpool game on oct 22nd as a birthday surprise, but after looking on the website it looks like tickets are only available to members of the one united club, which you have to pay £30 to join. (then the cost of tickets on top!)

Does anyone know how non members can get tickets? I'm happy to pay the going rate but am not prepared to use one of the websites that charges up to £200!

You're the girlfriend from heaven! A perfect birthday present!

All that aside - I'm gonna be looking for United v Chelsea tickets for 26th November. I used to be a member of One United a couple of years back but didn't renew my membership.

I'm considering asking round at work to see if anyone here is a member of the membership club and perhaps ask them to try and order tickets if it's game they're not considering going to. It's certainly one avenue you could try.

I know that application doesn't necessarily guarantee a ticket though.

Let me know how you get on.

I think I might try the asking around option, unfortunately i work in a shop with 6 women lol. Had a look at that other link, but to get a game like Liverpool you're looking at £160. It's not worth me getting one of the hotel break ones as we are lucky enough to live just a couple of miles away.

Not had any luck finding One United members so think I'll have to join up to get the tickets. Does anyone know if I'll be able to get 2 tickets with one membership?

  • I would be careful as you still may not get a ticket even if in the members club. Bear in mind the game you want to see is against arch rivals Liverpool and this game will be a total sell out. Even members aren't guaranteed a ticket to all games, being a member simply allows you to go in a ballot for tickets.

This is from their website and relates to tickets for the Spurs game:

"Applications are currently being accepted from One United Members only online by clicking here or by calling the 24 hour automated Ticket Line on 0870 442 1999. Please be aware that tickets are not allocated on a first come first served basis and as we anticipate being oversubscribed an automated random ballot will be held to determine the successful applicants. All payments must be made by either credit or debit card and if successful an administration fee of 3% per transaction is charged."

Yes, a high profile match like one against Liverpool would receive much more applications and therefore decrease your chances of getting a ticket - regardless of whether you're a member or not.

Even with the stadium capacity expansion to 75,000 tickets will undoubtedly still be hard to come by.

Seeing you're so close to the ground it would be worth calling by to ask about ticket sales to the general public, or even emailing them or ringing them. In fact I think I'll email with a ticket enquiry myself and post any reply here.

It doesnt look good for you for many reasons
Manchester united are the only club that can sell their stadium out twice for each match
V Liverpool again one of the bigger clubs in the country liverpool games are popular at every stadium not just old trafford.
Local derby there are even more people that are local to the ground or within 40 minutes drive from both clubs demand for tickets is very high.

The memershipp is the only way to apply for tickets, being a member doesnt guarentee you getting tickets, but being local and a member does increase your chances as united are trying to loose the "all fans are southerners" tag and the "random balot" isnt totally random. my mate makes his applications from his mums home address which is in bolton and is alot more sucessfull than when he was using his shefield or leeds addreses.

to get tickets your going to have to pay! ticket agencies or a tout, there are lots of touts that have united tickets you just need to find them.

So really ..... the only "guarantee" is paying £341.99 inc postage for a pair of tickets thru that that Travelcare site! Expensive or what?!

I doubt very much you'd get the tickets for Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea or Man City through One United Memberships I was a member for a few years and only ever got lower profile games, you may get lucky but would hold your breath about it. It is only 1 per membership or at least it was when i was a member. Maybe ask around on united message boards but again it will be unlikely you'd get a ticket without paying at least 3x face value of the tickets for Liverpool.
