Charlene ... you've posted on these forums before with regard to family members expecting you to subsidise them (wasn't it your mum last time?) ... Hun ... without meaning any disrespect ... you've got to stop being such a mug ... You've got your own life and kids to feed ... Please, please learn to say NO ... Your family (that's you, partner if you have one, and littluns) deserves to have the use of ALL of your money ... Even if you're already getting by OK with regard to feeding your kids and keeping a roof over your head, you could be putting your spare cash aside for your old age, or for treats for YOU! ... By all means be supportive to your indebted relatives, direct them towards MSE, provide encouragement towards "lightbulb moments" ... but PLEASE stop letting people sponge off you ... It's not healthy either for you or them! ... I really hope I haven't caused you any offence, it's just that it's not the first time you've had issues like this and I don't like to see somebody made a fool of!

    Charlene,

I agree with the other posters.

She has to take responsibility herself and getting another loan isn't going to help. There's all the free places she can get advice and she can read Martin's Advice on Debt. It really is something she has to deal with though. Good luck.

Thanks a lot everyone, I appreciate each and every post.

I wasn't actually going to be a guarnator, but she did ask. Also, this is the only other time she has asked me for money (and she didn't do it in a blatant way, just wrote on the paper, if it's possible for you to pay one bill, I will pay you back, don't worry if you can't, though) - I guess she was embarassed. Her partner paid for their holiday, and has no clue the mess she is in.

I should have made it clear that she has given me her cashcard with the list of dates her money comes in and what she wants paid e.g. rent, catalogue et.c

I will just pay her bills from her weekly money and give her the advice given here, which is always great. I am not offended at all by what has been posted, I'm grateful, and also have realised, that I'm always trying to help people, but have realised they can only help themselves, I need to take a step back.

Thanks again for all the help. Hopefully, one day she can come on here and post herself.

I think if your aunt has allowed you to see all these bills then maybe she is seeing a glimmer of the light....
Hopefully it's a cry for help and a some tactful advice when she gets back will be well heeded.
Am not witty enough to put something cool and informative here:o :o

Charlene, looking at that gorgeous picture of you and your little one only makes me want to say - look after that generation and time to get tough on the old one. Possibly harsh, but you'll be teaching them both about responsibility.

All the best to you x
