What are you all planning for your honeymoon?

Well title says it all.......

We are hoping to go to Thailand for ours. Its quite expensive so we are asking our guests to contribute money (on our honeymoon regisrty) rather than bring gifts

We're going "around the world" for 6 months for our honeymoon.

Thailand can be quite cheap (compared to booking through travel agents). We went last year. Flights were £550 each return with Emirates. Hotels ranged from £10-40 per night. We didnt stay in the ritz but we didnt stay in any hovels either. Food and drink there is cheap. Beers are around £1 each. If you eat local food a meal can cost as little at £1 too, street food is perfectly safe, just stick to the carts that the locals eat at. Chicken soup and noodles. Yummy yummy

I did see some travel agents deals at around £1500 each and its rediculous.

The only really expensive thing was wine (so we didnt bother). Its heavily taxed and can cost upto £20 a bottle for something that would be less than a fiver at home.

Ours isnt for another 18 months and God knows when we'll start thinking seriously but so far we're considering a cruise, a trip to Oz/NZ (where we have friends living - saving on hotels lol) or doing just a shorter UK/Ireland based one and then going away bigger at a later date. Son will be 17 when we marry but seemed a bit to keen on us leaving him alone in the house for 2-3 weeks lol

Its something we always wanted to do and alot of friends/family have said to do it now while we have the disposable income and no kids to tie us down. We had considered doing it when we're older instead but our older friends said whilst you may have the time when older you certainly wont have the same energy levels and you'll still have kids who will still need you even if they're 30.

Im looking forward to it, but wondering how we'll get the money together for it in time.

Not sure what we're doing immediately after our wedding, but our honeymoon will be about 6 months later, destination depends how much our guests love us as we are asking for Thomas Cook vouchers :)

well that was our first destination for ours but when we went to travel agents they said it has become too americanised now and its rather expensive, u have to pay fees for everything and extra pppp room fees, not really worth it
