I have been in a DMP with CCCS for the past two and a half years. Due to various family circuminstances I have not been coping very well with this and have run up an overdraft of £2000.00. My DMP is uo for review this month. My question is when i tell CCCS about my overdraft what will their response be.

I hope they view it sympathetically for you. Do take time when you speak to them to ensure that the DMP is still the best long term course of action to take in your efforts to get completely debt free.

i am no expert but I woudl get advice and may be consider declariing bankruptcy? the other thing is that about 4 years ago RBS gave my son a loan without verifying references and long story but with charges for non payment and a mis sold PPI a £2500 loan turned into £5500 in only 3 months!! I fought this on his behalf and basically what I learned is that if you have a debt of the amount you have to the bank they will definfitley consider writing it off for a fraction of the amount. IF I had known then I woudl have offerred less. Why dont you approach them , explain your position and say you cant afford to repay it but will make an offer in full and final settlement. I would suggest £200, as I offered £1200 and they snapped my hand off. Often it costs them more to chase it than its worth I know even if Id offered £500 they woudl have taken it. Then its one less thing for you to worry about. Maybe your mum can lend you the money to pay them off and them she can add it to what you owe

hope things improve for you ;)

    Hi,
I am currently paying by Direct Debit to CCCS but need to change it to Standing Order but cant find the bank details. Does anyone know them?
  • I have 3 credit cards, 2 are over their limits and the other is full.
The two which are over are - £5070 (5000 limit), £2150 (2100 limit). The other is £750. i also have a £1500 overdraft which is used up. I recently lost my job as a professional rugby player and i am struggling to pay my cards. I have potential work next month but the money is less than what i have earnt previously.
What can you suggest to help me manage my debt, a loan? shift to another card? contact credit card companies for help? or is there any government help? I dont want top affect my credit rating too much . What would be the most cost effective way of managing my debt?
    Thanks, James

Hi confuzzled2012 and thanks for your post.

You’re right that they can apply for a money judgment.

There is a lot more information on the Shelter website which outlines the process: http://england.shelter.org.uk/get_advice/repossession/going_to_court/what_the_court_can_do#6 but if you’d like some more specific information, please give us a call.

    Kind regards,
    Pavan
