  • Just wanted some advice, we're on a DMP with the CCCS and payment date is the 10th, my husband needs to travel with work and the hotel have said they need a credit/debit card on arrival as a security deposit (hotel is already paid for by work) apparently this is the norm and although funds won't be taken from the account, funds can be blocked for a couple of days after departure, he leaves the hotel on the 7th so potentially our payment to the CCCS could be affected as his debit card is also where the CCCS is paid from and there is no 'spare' money in the account...if you get my drift...

What's the best thing to do?

    Hi,

My name is Rez, and I am Uni student. I have a student account with Lloyds tsb, and been having alot of problems with their ridiculous amount of overdraft charges. Im currently overdraft on my debit card -£250, and wont be able to pay the overdraft charges until two weeks time, which is when i get paid by my part time job. Now im scared that the overdraft charges will build up, in the next two weeks, and that i wont be able to pay it. Is there any way of postponing the overdraft charges, or what options are there? Also i heard that some people can claim the overdraft charges back, how would that work, would i be able to claim my charges back.

    Many Thanks,
    Rez

Hi secretshopper75 and thanks for your post.

Has your husband spoke to his employer to see if there’s any way around it? This could be the first option but I’d recommend that you call our support team to see what alternatives we can offer.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,
    Pavan

Hi Rez and welcome to the forum.

The best thing to do is to go in to your local branch and explain your situation. They may be able to offer you a solution or at least reduce the interest and charges as you know you’ll be getting paid soon.

Bear in mind that if your income goes into this account they may swallow it all up in charges. To prevent this from happening you’d need to open up a different account that isn’t connected in any way to make sure that your money’s safe. You’d need to make sure that the new account is a basic account and you’re not asking for any further credit.

If you think you might be entitle to reclaim some of the charges, I’d recommend that you read through this section of the website as it gives detailed guides on what to do: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/.

    I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

  • Hi. My husband and I were in a DMP for a while but instead of phoning when we started to struggle with having money left to live on after the payment to the plan had been made, I panicked and started to use the awful Payday loans. When I finally plucked up the courage to phone the DMP organisation back (now with 6 different payday loans plus all the existing debts totalling now £23,585) I was told that I had gone against the terms of the plan and they would no longer participate in a DMP with us. I feel like things have taken a major step backwards and I don't know what to do. We have sought advice from the Debt Advice Network and they have said we have the options of self managed DMP, IVA, Commercial DMP(Big no no!) or Bankruptcy. There are 15 creditors altogether. Please can someone help as it feels like my brain is going to explode!!

Hi Monkeypants Mummy and thanks for your post.

You don’t mention who your initial DMP was with and how long ago this was. It’s important that you seek impartial advice from on of the free organisations like us.

You’ll receive a downloadable advice booklet providing a tailored solution for you based on your current circumstances and advice on ways you may be able to improve your situation.

If you’re not confident with computers or would like to speak to an advisor then you’re welcome to ring our free Helpline on 0800 138 1111. We’re open Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm.

Hi, I wonder if you could give me some advice please.

I'm currently with Payplan who are looking after several loans/credit cards - started in 2008 and the new revised finish date is 2014. All payments made on time and have increased every year. (12,494.79 remaining)

I also have a loan with FLM (Payplan couldn't take this one) - payment of £180.66 a month (interest/charges of £137.20 a month) - due to finish March 2013. (4,443.86 remaining)

I'm now beginning to rely on payday loans, which i know is going in the wrong direction, but not sure what to do?
  • Hello

I am not sure if I am posting in the right place. I was wondering if someone could help me. I have an outstanding debt for £1900. I contacted the claimant and explained my situation and because of my personal circumstances and the fact I am on a very low income they agreed to me paying £40 per month until the debt is repaid. The solicitor sent me a consent order today and gave me ten days to sign and return it to them. They will then lodge it with the court.

There is clause in stating if I miss any payments they will enter judgement. I am just really worried because I am self employed. I only earn 6K per year at the moment and I am struggling but I cannot afford to have a judgement against me. I am worried if I miss a payment they will enter the judgement. I will not be able to keep trading with judgement I am not sure what to do. Any advice or guidance would be appreciated.

    Thanks

I would appreciate any advice or guidance as to my option.
