vasilysmyslov wrote: »Hello all, please bear with me, I am unsure if this is the correct place to post this. Basically my situation is as follows. I moved to another country, still within the EU a year and a half ago. I was forced to leave my house share in London and did not have the opportunity to find a sub tenant after I left. My landlord has now secured the services of a CPA and they have been sending me letters which state I must pay the whole 2,100 immediately. Obviously I do not have this, nobody in my family either. They have too suggested even if I pay a small amount now and suggest a payment plan they have the right to take further action. Is that correct? Do I not have a leg to stand on if I make the necessary steps to begin repayment?
I am still living outside of the country. What can they do? I am very worried about this and do not really know where to turn. Any help would be appreciated. All the best,
Vasily.
Hi Vasily and welcome to the forum.
I’d recommend that you get in touch with us on +44 113 297 0126 to book an appointment with a counsellor.
Lines are open Monday to Friday 08:00-20:00. It would be helpful that when you call you have details ready regarding your income, expenditure and creditors, as this can help speed up the referral process.
We should be able to look into the full situation and find some solution for you.
I hope this helps.

Thanks Mat
I have completed the online CCCS statement of in/out's and a DMP have come back as the course of action.
Im just checking before I send off the signed documents if you think contact with Natwest is a good or bad idea?
Thanks again
Steamer28
Hi Steamer28 and thanks for your message.
It would be good to keep your creditors informed at every stage of the process.
If you are banking with Natwest I would advise that you also open a new basic banking account with an unconnected bank and have your income paid into this account instead of any with Natwtest.
I hope this helps.

My Wife and I have £32,000 debt on credit cards and overdraft.(the result of a wedding 3 maternitys and a car all put on cards) We havent yet missed any payments but it has got to the stage where all the 0% offers have run out and we are no simply paying the minimum payments which only covers the interest every month. We have no loans or other debts. We earn a combined £2440 after tax a month get £188 chb a month and £75 tax credits. Our mortgage is £576 a month, have 105,000 left to pay on it and the house is now worth about £115,000.
Other Bills
furniture credit £56 mth
Rates £70 mth
Health Insurance £33 mth
oil £50 mth
phone/broadband £40mth
tv £12 mth
home ins £17 mth
life ins £27 mth
father £350 mth
mobile phone £30 mth
credit union £70 mth
overdraft fee £7.50 mth
the combined total of our credit card payments is £720 mth
we work on £250 per month petrol and car parking £300 food, £60 electric
All this pretty much uses up everything weve got with absolutely no room for manaouver. Im looking advice on whats the best option for me. I certainly am not looking to opt out of repaying my debt and dont want to go down the lines of and iva or bankruptcy. Would a debt management plan be my best option? would i qualify? is it a private arrangement which no-one can possibly know about?0 -

Hi CruRed and welcome to the forum.
There could be a few options open to you, a Debt Management Plan (DMP) could be one of them.
A DMP is an unofficial agreement between you and your creditors and your credit rating would be affected. It’s not a matter of public record like insolvency.
We administrate DMPs free of charge so all of the money you pay goes towards repaying your debt.
The first thing to do is visit our online debt advice service Debt Remedy (http://www.cccs.co.uk/ref/drcu) to help you find a solution to your debt problem quickly.
Debt Remedy will assist you in completing a financial statement with information on your household, employment, income, expenditure and debts. From this the service will automatically determine your options.
To help you fill in the form, it’s best to gather together information about:
• Your income
• Your expenditure
• The creditors you owe money to
You’ll receive a downloadable advice booklet providing a tailored solution for you based on your current circumstances and advice on ways you may be able to improve your situation.
If you’re not confident with computers or would like to speak to an advisor then you’re welcome to ring our free Helpline on 0800 138 1111. We’re open Monday to Friday 8am - 8pm.
If you phone us it may be possible to refer you directly to a counsellor for immediate advice. Alternatively, we will arrange for an appointment to be booked at a time convenient for you.
I hope this helps.

I took your advise and want to ask a few questions regarding DMP'S. I have made contact with a charitable org which has already begun to set in motion a dmp for me and the missus. Now I wasnt 100% honest with them regarding my debts, one i totaly forgot about the other i chose not to mention. The one I forgot about was a very catalogue which I have a balance of about £300.The other one I didnt mention was a credit union loan my wife has for £700. I decided not to mention it because a member of my wifes family works in the credit union and we dont want our business to become known by anyone. Now we could easily afford to continue paying off both these out of our allowed budget but would the other credit companies to whose debts we have put on the dmp see from looking at our credit files that we have not declared these 2 debts and are continuing to pay them on the fly so to speak?0 -
Hi I wonder if anybody could give me some advise please, I have been in a DMP with CCCS since may, all payments made on time and up to date everything going smooth, or so I thought, received a default notice frm the halifax today saying that if I dont pay the arrears on my credit card they will take me to court to recover
the full amount owing, they also said they could take money from accounts I have with them, I have a savings account with £385 in which is money I put in every
month to cover bills, car insurance etc can they take this money, and would i be better taking the money out of the account and saving it at home.0 -
Hi, first time on here so sorry if this sounds off, rather upset as i'm typing. The last few months have been difficult with losing my job, my son being born and having to cope with the grossly inefficient Department for Work and Pensions. for 2 of those months, my partner and myself were messed about, being told that our documents were being lost, faxed copies were not being recieved due to no paper in the machine, and even at one point that we were not eligible for the income support we were trying to claim.
They finally began paying us, while i was searching for work. To date, the backdated payments for the 2 months they messed us about have not arrived, and i have been relying on part of this money to pay a credit agreement with my bank. with less than 24 possible hours left until i am in breach of this agreement, the money has not arrived. Is there anything i can do against DWP to speed this money up, and what do i do about the bank? I have never been in a position like this before, so i'm a little bit lost and a lot angry and frustrated. :mad:0 -

Hi CruRed and thanks for your message.
Technically you’re treating some creditors with preference over others. Your creditors could find out about this if they wished.
In terms of asking for interest and charges to be stopped and further action suspended this would be difficult to argue for if your creditors found out that you were treating other debts with preference.
I’d recommend getting the catalogue debt added to the plan, in regards the credit union debt I would seek advice from the charity you are dealing with.
I hope this helps.

Hi Jenny57 and thanks for your post.
Default notices are often sent out automatically and show that you have broken the original terms and conditions of the credit card.
It is possible that Halifax could sweep money from other accounts you have with them.
I’d recommend that you open a new basic bank account with a bank unconnected to any of your creditors.
As you’re already a client I’d suggest you give us a call and speak to someone who has access to your details. We’ll be able to talk you through the default procedure and look at what banks would suit you.
I hope this helps.
