More advice needed again I'm afraid!
I have a fab second interview on Wednesday which I won't say too much about in case I jinx it. Fair to say I had a phone call from the regional manager this morning saying that my "audition" was amazing and that they "hope they can give me some good news when they see me Wednesday". All good so far!
Thing is, I also got a phone call from the poo call centre I'd got a job at as a back-up. They wanted me to start earlier...tomorrow, which I wouldn't be able to do as have interview Wednesday! So I explained I had an interview commitment and I did have it in writing that they wanted me to start 15/08/06 so had made plans, apologised etc, they said they'd get back to me. Horrible manager from there just rang to say they want more commitment from me and what did I think I was doing booking an interview. I politely explained that since I hadn't started my employment with them yet I thought it was of no concern and was merely being honest with them. She was very rude so I said it would probably be best if I declined the offer after all. I explained that I had been treated rudely and unprofessionally at the interview and I had concerns about their company!!!! Felt very brave but am now panicking in case I don't get this job on Wednesday.
What I'm wondering now is who's done temping before and how quickly do you get paid for it?
I have enough money for rent for next month and bills etc and will do anything, ie. stack shelves, cleaning etc for money but thought temping might be good as it'd keep me going til I know about the other job! Sorry, this is a bit long xxx

Usually weekly, working a week in hand....Hays & Manpower who i've worked for are pretty good, but one drawback is that it may take a few weeks to sort your tax out even if you have a P45.
Anyway, surely your other application was progressing at the same time as the call centr one, so seeing as the 2 were running at the same time, were you supposed to withdraw from everything you had applied for in the hope that you HAD got their call centre job?!
Good luck for Weds, anyway!2021 Decluttering Awards: ⭐⭐🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇🥇 2022 Decluttering Awards: 🥇

Good luck - you'll be fine!
And it sounds like you were right to stay clear of that company - if they were already giving you kind of hassle then just think how they would be when you actually start.
I would hold on until you've had the interview and then ask when you'll be expected to start if successful, when you'll get paid and most importantly when you will hear back. Then you should be able to guage if you need to start panicking - if you get through they might want you to start asap.
As for lush job - (in your other thread) I went for a sales assistant job a couple of weeks ago, got through to the group interview but didn't get taken on sadly - and I tried to ensure I conveyed my enthusiasm and passion for the products but still didn't get anywhere. I did call back for feedback and spoke to the new !!! manager who said she thought I was really good but she didn't make the decision, it was the manager from another branch.
But I know I would be perfect for it and I would really enjoy it...but anyway
Sorry to hijack your thread

I knew I'd got the call centre job but they were calling me to start a week earlier than planned, so it's my own fault! When I went for the interview I got told 6 different locations and none were right so I looked like a loser! They weren't expecting me at all and the woman who ws supposed to do my interview was in a meeting! They didn't know my name and had lost my CV and cover letter. The boy who did my interview had never done one before and was merely trying to help her out and asked me all the same questions she's asked me over the phone. Then, his work phone went which he ran off to answer leaving me on my own. A random girl came over to show me out and when I asked when I'd hear back she merely shrugged. So, all in all, I saw the warning signs to start with!! Makes me wonder if they would have lost my bank details!! The company I'm going for the second interview with have been amazing all the way through.
After result on Wednesday will check out Hays and Manpower. I'm not so worried about the tax at first, just as long as I've got something. The dream job I'm going for said they'd try and sort me out some mobile work as their position doesn't officially start til beginning o September so if I get it I may not need to temp but trying to cover all eventualities!!0 -
this job you're going for (with Benefit? Another fine cosmetics brand...) sound like they really like you....Proud DFW Nerd #62

Glitterari, I've done dozens of SA interviews for Lush (and
and confidence, passion and a fun, hardworking nature are what I would look for. Lush have recently revamped their recruitment and not all are in agreement with it. I would just say don't give up and all Lush's will be looking to recruit Xmas staff in the next month or so, so try again then maybe. Just out of interest which store is it you're applying for? 0 -
Also, get onto the customer forum on the Lush website as Amanda who does all the recruitment goes on there a lot as does Mark Constantine (BIG is his user name!) who's the founder/director...do some schmoozing and some background research!!0

I think being honest was a mistake, thats not to say you should lie, just be more confidant and explain that you are sorry and you cant start earlier - always give the minimum information and if pressed just say its a private matter.
Anyway guess its a bit late for that, if its a 2-a-penny call centre job then hold out for the one with prospects every time. Middle managment at such establishments are usually pretty poor in my experience, they often dont have the capacity to think and make their own decisions so tend to lay down the law and follow the manual. Common sense shold tell them that everyone working a call centre is actually looking for something better - I mean who in the world aspires to answering the phone, its something people do to earn money. A means to an end. Is it something people are commited to? The manager is unrealistic surely... forget 'em.Debt: a bloomin big mortgage
all posts are made for entertainment value only, nothing I say should be taken as making any sense and should really be ignored0 -
Thank dead-eye-jones! I know being honest was a mistake, I'm cringing at why I even bothered mentioning it, but hey, these things happen for a reason!!! You are right about forgetting 'em!0

Good luck for wed. Sounds as though you will be fine. As for the other job!!!!!! Well its their loss, sounds as though they have done you a MASSIVE favour by revealing just how "wonderful" it would be to work there! Again best of luck for wed. Take care.Blind as you run...aware you were staring at the sun.
