Question about Critical Illness Cover

Hi there. Wonder if anyone knows much about this sort of query....
In 2003, boyfriend & I moved in together and got a joint mortgage. BF was an ex smoker of not quite 6 months at that point so he got 'marked down' when we took out our critical illness/life cover with Legal & General.
We pay £43.25 per month for the both of us and that is the fixed figure for the 25 year term of our mortagage (well....22 years now ...not that I am counting... ).
Boyfriend will never smoke again (he assures me) and hasn't been tempted since he quit back in 2002. He has also quit working in a smoky environment back in 2003.
Is it worth me approaching Legal & General and updating them to see if I can get a monthly reduction...? I'm not sure if, because we are both a bit older now (I am 35 and BF is 27) if it will make any difference.
Any knowledge/advice much appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Is this really worth it anyone? With the recent rise in mortgage interest rate I'm having to find cuts somewhere. I currently pay £61 a month for the critical illness policy. £61 could go towards my mortgage increase!0
