Good quality clothes for work

I am looking to get some new work clothes and i want something which will last! i am learning my lesson that buying cheap clothes from primark, new look etc dont work.

i have been looking at womans shirts from TM Lewin, Charles Tyrwitt (sp?) and other shops but they can be very pricy.

i have also been buying a few bits from ebay but this can be hit and miss e.g i got a lovely dress from french connection which is great, but have also bought some bits which look cheap when on!

any help appreciated!

I tend to look in sales (T M Lewin) for good quality shirts, have got really nice ones from Karen Millen too (white). They're also good for suits. M&S do good basic suits, I'd steer clear of Next Directory, lots of hems on trousers have come undone after a few wears. I bought a great wool mix trouser suit a few years back from Mango. Try Ebay for good suits, I got a great light coloured 3 piece (jacket, trouser, skirt) Jigsaw suit for a really bargain price. Shoes I tend to use Jones Bootmaker, sales again. Oasis sometimes have nice skirts/blouses. For interviews I have a suit from Reiss but would not wear this everyday.

I like Wallis clothes for cut & quality, and prices are not too bad. I have a Wallis suit that I bought years ago that still looks good today despite lots of wear and plenty of dry cleaning. The fit is better than the cheaper brands too.
