United Utilities.. £/&!**

Sorry for the title, as mentioned above i am having issues with united utilities. They have added a CCJ to my credit report from back in aug 2008 that i hadnt even noticed, my payments for all 10 of my other accounts mortages etc are all on time and everything is green, and my score is high 600`s
I tried to apply for a credit card a few days ago and couldnt get one, i have my re mortage coming up soon and if they see this CCJ im going to be turned down, is there any way to remove a CCJ from UT? Its the only thing holding me back on my file and its driving me nuts. Are mortgage lenders going to look bad on this? or see that i always pay my mortgage on time?
Any help would be really really appreciated!

Sorry, the debt is for £264 and the CCJ was logged in aug 2008, we had just moved into our house, i have tried contact UT but they said the only thing that would happen is that it would be marked paid (if it was paid in full) but still show on your credit file and there was nothing else they would do. I dont recall receiveing any documents from the court for a CCJ..
A CCJ is just as bad unpaid as paid once it is on your credit file right?

Did you inform UT of your new address? If so, can you prove that?Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

May be useful.......
How to set aside a judgment in the county courtI did not get the court papers
If you did not get the court papers through the post the court will not always agree that this is a good reason to set aside the judgment. The court is allowed to send the papers to your usual or last known address (even if you have moved). If you have given your creditors your new address then they should contact you there.
If they still send the papers to your old address then you may have good reason for the judgment to be set aside.
If you did not get the claim form, you will usually need to show you have a defence or other good reason as well, for the court to set aside the judgment
unless:- you can prove you gave the creditor your new address;
- the claim was not made following the rules, for example, they were sent to the wrong address, lost in the post; or
- the post office returned the claim papers as they were not able to deliver them.

The amount due is for the first few months at our current address, not from our old address, the bill was probably put behind the bread bin! I am usually good with bills but obviously missed this one, but i didnt receive any court papers/orders as i would of took more notice in that case.

This may work but i do not have any proof that i didnt receive the papers from the court, UT have my current address that i have had since aug 2008 and we were living with parents previously.
One thing that i read is that i can dispute the CCJ with the credit ref agencies and they remove it until UT send them the "case files" within 30 days? Is this correct? This Ladder is quite a !#£$$ to get on!0 -

Nope. I think you are thinking of defaults, rather than CCJs.
With CCJs, the credit refernce agencies get the info directly from the official Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines.
The only way the Credit Reference Agencies will remove the CCJ from your credit files is when the CCJ is removed from that official register.
The only way to get the CCJ removed from that register is through the courts.
The Credit Reference Agencies have no authority to dispute data from the register or look at any files from the case.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Thanks for the info
So really apart from breaking into the Register of Judgments, Orders and Fines. and stealing the files im in a pretty bad situation! Are there any companies that anyone can recommend that can dispute the CCJ or have any loop holes they can exploit etc? I am desperate to get this removed.
I appreciate the replies so far. This Ladder is quite a !#£$$ to get on!0 -
What you can do is as you didnt get the court papers is have the CCJ set aside as mentioned above.
If payment is made within 30 days of the hearing it will not be re-added to your credit file. That is your single and only chance to get it removed.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

You can try, but if the papers were sent but got lost in the post with no proof of this etc, then it's very very very iffy as to whether the court would agree to a set aside. They are not obliged to.
May be worth a shot though, or at least have a word with the court staff.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
