Mortgage related - New mobile phone (may be a daft question)

Hi there,
Sorry to ask this and especially if it's the daftest question ever.
I've got a mortgage offer in place on a new build which is about 8 weeks from being completed (well hopefully anyway). The offer expires at the end of July.
Anyway, looking to change mobile phone providers and get a different kind of phone but just wondering if I was to do this and given that the mobile phone company will do a credit check, if the Halifax were for any reason to do another credit check before completion, would they frown upon this?
May just be over worrying but if it's a concern and something they may look at poorly then will hold off till after I'm in the house.
Thanks for your help.

I would be interested in the answer to your question too!! We have a mortgage offer in place, and I would like to apply for a cashback credit card, to buy our furniture with once (or if) we complete. But like you, I dont want to do it yet while nothing is finalised (exchange or completion date not yet set). I too am concerned that another credit check on my file might not look good if the lender needs to do another check for whatever reason.
Not a daft question at all!0 -
Thanks Livalicious!
Can anyone help please?
Thank you.0 -
I'm no expert but if I was in the same situation I would think a potential mortgage is more important than a phone! Your contract isnt going anywhere so to lessen the risk to your mortgage application, I would hold off till completion without a doubt.0

Thanks.
I was just considering the fact that you weren't taking out a new credit agreement worth thousands and instead merely replacing like for like, it wouldn't be an issue but definitely given your advice will hold off.
Thanks again.0 -
We are going through an application following an AIP. My partner went into his bank to get 3 months of bank statements they are persuaded him to get his first credit card (we have no loans or credit cards). He agreed and has a £500 limit.
I was not overjoyed he did this now. He didnt think it would be an issue. Is it?0 -

I am in the exact situation, looking to exchange on a new build on 23/04 and due to complete mid June. I chased up my mortgage offer yesterday to be told it looks like they had made an administrative error and may have valued the incorrect plot. After speaking to the builder it looks like it is just an admin error with incorrect plot number written down. In the meantime I had an alert on my credit file and a new account has been added by ORANGE for an additional mobile phone contract taken out in January. Which is great as I am waiting for an imminent decision on my mortgage application.
Will let you know what happens.Born and bred in Manchester (proud of it)
