in Cutting tax
hello,
during tax year 09- 2010 I was on maternity leave, then left a job (was sent p45),and a month ago returned to work - same company.
Am I entitled to any tax back?
Which form do I need to fill in? Can I find it on HMRC website?
I used to go to local tax office to pick up the form, but now I don't have time for that
Work, Uni, baby at nursery...
please help me

Did the company pay you, after your return, before 06apr10?0
-
hello,
yes, they did.0 -
Use your last pay slip of the year (or your P60 when you get it) to see if the figures are correct for the year 06apr09 thru 05apr10.
Now what is "correct"?
To get started there are two taxes on income: Income Tax & National Insurance.
So what is you annual earned income, what have you paid in various "stoppages", what is the total of each? .
We don't know the details of your job - perhaps you are entitled to some sort of "tools & uniform" type allowance?. Perhaps you have student debts? Perhaps you are entitled to a income support as a new mother? Perhaps you have travel expenses that are tax allowable? Perhaps you are paying into a pension? Perhaps you have some sort of salary sacrifice/allowance (eg Child care/cycle to work grant) ? Perhaps you are paying to a chariuty?
Before anyone can give a yes/no answer to your questions they have to know all the facts.
As the old joke goes: "If you are not pretty confused, you have not begun to understand the situation".
As you are working, perhaps there is someone in your department or in Human Resources who can talk you through the figures.
There is a large proportion of the population paying the "wrong" amount and an even larger number who could be paying less if they understood all the complexities and made ninor changes in their circumstances.0 -

but my employer doesn't pay for my daughter's childcare...
I have never claimed any benefits (only child benefit and child tax credits, as normal ) and I am not self employed.
I work in a very small company, which runs websites ... I have never seen an accountant, they send us payslips by email.. and actually everytime it's signed by a different person/accountant
) so there is no one I could speak to.

The simple answer is that if you post your pay and tax details and code number from your last payslip, we can try and work out if a refund is due.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

I don't think it's safe
How utterly ridiculous. You were asked for totally non attributable data .... not your NI / address / telephone etc.
Yet you gleefully and, utterly stupidly, post a picture of yourself and your young daughter on another part of this Forum. Just how 'safe' is that?If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0 -

but I would prefer just to be advised, so I could do all the calculations myself or have a clear picture of the whole process.
yes I did post a pic here, that's why I don't want to post my income etc here. do I make myself clear now??0 -
well... thanks for being so ' polite ' and calling me stupid ...
Anyone who posts a full picture of their young child on a public forum - with an audit trail back to the photobucket page - is stupid. Utterly stupid. And I'm surprised some of the regular and wiser users didn't tell you to delete it.
Am I being clear? If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0
