Will try and keep this short, brought a leg of fresh lamb from asdas yesterday, dated till 19th april
is vac packed, hubby opens it,say this smells a bit,i ignore him as often things which have been vac packed do.
start cooking it , me thinking as it cooks that it doent smell right aftrer an hour take it out to smell/try and it stinks
get the original wrapping stinks too,my sis ter smells it and gags
so 12 people due for lunch 4.30 on a sunday
rang asda only home shopping people no one in stores
hubby goes out looking for a chicken! me having a mild panic
eventually at 7pm we start to feed 5 over hungry kids and starving adults
this was a really special lunch and it all went to pot!
how is the best way to approch this tomorrow,do i march in with my leg of lamb or ring them or enviromental heath?
trying to be calm to sort out what ruined my day!

I had the same problem with Sainsbury's and a Bernad Matthew's turkey roast.
I emailed thm telling them how hey had ruined my meal and we had to get takeaway as we had nothing else to eat.
I got a mail back saying basically 'whoops, call us and you can have a refund'...not even a whiff of a gesture of goodwill. Baaaah! If my words are missing letters then please excuse me....my keyboard is a tad dodgy!!0 -
I would recommend returning to the store you purchased it from with the lamb and wrapping. Explain what has happened but try keep calm.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

We get our legs of lamb from Sainsburys and it says on the pack that because it's vacuum sealed there will be a slight odour when you open it and whilst cooking for a short while, also the meat will have a greyish colour when it's first opened. We last had one on Easter Sunday, it did smell but was perfectly fine. We survived and no bad tummies in site.
Check your wrapper as it will have this written on it somewhere.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £84,398.84 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £90 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £77.55 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £409.16 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -

Minimum you should expect would be a full refund and replacment (this is Asda polocy). If you are unhappy about all the running around and the inconvenience this caused, then you need to sit down and calculate your loss. Go to the store, ask to speak to the manager as you are not happy. Explain the situation calmely and non-agresively and politely as you can (this I find gets me a lot furtehr than shouting my head off). List everthing that happened and explain that you are out of pocket on petrol costs, not only having to come back to the store but in the running around. If you are not happy with the resolution then write to Asda Head Office and list your grievences with the store being as detailed as you can, also at the bottom of the letter advise them that they have 14 days to respond before you condider taking furtehr action (doesnt mean you have to take action, it can be an empty threat).if i had known then what i know now0

hi,they offered me the standard refund and replacement of item which i said i did not not want another leg of lamb!
so had to ask manager to give me a £10 gift card.
i said i wanted them to send it off to find out why and apparently they only need the wrapper for that??
so signed my complaints form and wait and see what they say, nothing of interest i think! but you never know! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
