  • Depends what you want...

I couldn't find what I wanted and I'm getting a ring specially made by a local jeweller so it is at the top of the prices I considered (but is exactly what I want and unique to me). He is cheaper than getting it made by a chain and much more personal and adaptable. I would guess that buying from a shop is probably cheaper if you can find what you want as you don't have to pay for all the work just for your ring (i.e. the design costs etc will be shared with however many rings are made the same).

I found rings varied enormously in price even for what looked like the same thing - so it just depends what is important to you and what shops/jewellers you have the option of.
  • Our plan was always to get ours made but as OH has never worn a ring he wanted to try some, so we went to a high street jeweller.
All we want is plan and simple, nothing fancy or too heavy, the high street jeweller would heva been between £450 - £500.

When we actually wanted to order them we went to a local working jeweller, 100xbetter service and the rings are costing us £350 and they will re-coat my engagement ring included in the price.
Even if they had wanted £500 for what we wanted I would still have chosen the working jeweller, the high street shop were useless, they only had one of each style in to try but whats the use of trying a ring that is 4 sizes too big!
