Tax Return

I filled for bankruptcy in early March but last week received a notice from HMRC to submit my year ending 2010 self assessment tax return by January 2011.

Do I still have to submit this even though I am bankrupt?

Thanks in advance....

Are you still trading? If so, you will need a tax return to cover period from BR date to 5th April.

yes, they add the amount of tax owing to your BR, but they still need to know how much it is. If you didn't trade the tax year after BR, then you need to tell them there are no returns to file.
