Why am I made to feel like a second class citizen financially just because I choose not to have children?

Also a point that is extremely important - why on earth are people paid to have children in effect for goodness sake?

    a. It's discriminatory against those who have chosen not to.

    b. It makes less than zero sense in such an overcrowded country as this one and when many of the people thus "encouraged" are those least suitable to have children in the first place.
  • What help will be available for single home owners who work with NO CHILDREN? Why when I have to work three jobs to keep my bills paid do I have to be hammered on tax on two of my jobs?

Martin, think it's important you don't just ask the party leaders questions on the same topics that have already been heavily covered by the various interviews in the media.

Whilst we all want to know why taxes on petrol/diesel are so high, why government won't step in and make utility companies pass on savings quicker, why banks aren't paying decent interest etc etc etc it is also important to find out the answers to less high profile issues.

    ooo...
    1) stop adverts for finance on childrens tv channels....my child was singing "yes i do have a mortgage" the other day!

    2) the tax credits system is too complicated

3)petrol/fuel/food prices are going up and up - I would rather pay extra on non-essentials and know that everyone could afford the basics (and even non-drivers rely on fuel if the shops are to stock anything)

    4) interest rate on savings is affecting my parents, causing them anxiety

    5) re teens, the buses and trains are very expensive, and the free bus pass can't be used before 9.30 making it pretty pointless as a return costs about the same as a single
    AND
we need more apprenticeships suitable for all teens, not just the brighter ones

  • Why is economics not taught before A level in schools?

We are a capitalist society of sorts. why is there no education about loans, compound interest, consumer rights, contract law or in fact anything relating to the buying ,selling and or leasing / renting of anything?

Why are phoenix companies permitted to exist?
Phoenix company being a limited company that shares directors / shareholders with another company which goes bust, buys up the bust company's assets and then continues trading after eliminating all liability to customers and suppliers.

    2. Why also, given that single households are said to be the fastest growing type of household in the UK, should a single householder have to pay 75% of the Council Tax bill for that property when next door may have 4 adults all sharing the bill. There is no way a single householder generates 3/4 the rubbish that a family of 4+ does. Nor does a single householder utilise the local amenities to the extent a family does.
    .

i agree with you on not stigmatising singles with marriage tax breaks. but single person households are less efficient than multi-person ones. for example, the energy and expense of collecting bins from four households of single people if much greater than collecting bins from one household of four people. same with a car of four people - much more effecient and less wasteful than four cars all carrying one person. if you want to reduce council tax you always have the option of sharing.

    Question;

How will labour's super isa for 18-30 year olds work exactly? what do the other parties thing of it?

how will the parties go about regulating lending so we don't have a repeat of lie-to-buy or those who over stretch themselves with loans and easy credit? how will they curb the seemingly growing trend of career bankrupts and 'tourist' bankruptcy (i.e. those who hide / tranfer assests and declare bankruptcy, especially those from overseas who transfer assests out of the country)?

how do they plan to make it more worthwhile for those on low incomes to work rather than go on benefits?

    1. Is NEST the best way to provide retirement income for workers ? The 2% contribution charge, and 0.3% AMC will eat away at the already small contributions, and will not provide much of an income, and will probably only reduce the amount of benefits available to the retiree.

    2. Why can't Tax Credits be paid to eligible workers via an adjustment to their Tax Code.

    3. Why are none of the main party's interested in providing more social housing in the U.K.

  • With the bank rate at 0.5%, why are credit card interest rates just as punitively high as they've ever been?
