New Dyson or are other brands just as good?

Hello

My Dyson Animal has given up the ghost. Lasted 7 years but it is ready to be replaced. There is a big price difference between a new Dyson animal and the equivalent pet vacuum by say Hoover or Vax.

My Dyson has been very good until the last few months so is it worth paying that bit more or are the other brands equally as good?

Many thanks

Dyson I'd say, we had one for about 7 years too and it died a month ago, we got a spare hoover of my parents and I may as well go round with a straw in my mouth sucking up the mess for all the good its worth, cant wait to get a new Dyson soon, good luck.

EDIT; mate in work has a Henry and recommends it highly too.

I have always had Dysons until the last time I replaced it and having looked around I went for a Sebo X4 pet and wow have I been impressed!! I have several cats and dogs and a couple of kids (they are the worst lol) and the Sebo takes everything in its stride without any bother. I like the fact as well that it compacts everything into a bag and goes from hard floor to carpet by itself, no having to put the brush up and down and it comes with a 5 year mechanical warranty as standard :D

Its easy to use, has an extra long hose with an animal attachment that really does get to the top of the stairs and is much lighter than the Dyson. Might be worth having a look around before you make any decisions.

Hi both of you. thank you for your replies. I looked at the sebo but wasn't sure about going back to a vacuum with a bag. Do you replace the bag every time? The sebo has good reviews.

Anyone know if there is much of a difference between the dyson with a ball and the "ordinary" ones?

    Thanks again

Hubby has found this. Amazon reviews look ok but I'm not convinced. Any good anyone?
  • Miele vacuums are bagged but brilliant and very durable.

Just think about how the cannister empties if you go for a different bagless. I've never had a Dyson but from the look of them they are super easy to empty with no mess and no filters to wash out. I had a bagless Morphy Richards which was a really powerful hoover by my gosh, it was a pain to empty. I now have a bagless Hoover for Pets but even though the cannister has a one button option to open it through the bottom, it has a tiny hole and you end up having to pull all the cat hair out by hand...plus it still has those filters to wash out. If you have the money, I'd opt for a Dyson personally.

Go for a Miele. Mines over 15 years old, still sucks like new and I've only ever had to change the bags. Even they don't need emptying often.

We have a Miele cat and dog vac and Im very impressed - have used Dysons at work in the past and thought they were good but not as good as the Miele.

Also looking into getting a Henry for my Mum as the reviews of those seem very good.
