My cards are very much marked!

I posted about my experience in Tesco last week in another thread. Hmmm my cards are marked there now!
I went to Asda on Friday and the store manager came to have a chat with me on my way out. I have chatted with him a couple of times before and he is a lovely man, very pleasant, but he asked me to please not use more than 10% in coupons in future.
I told him that I just hand over my coupons and ask the cashier to take what they can and accept that. He said the responsiblity is on me not to use more than 10% as he cannot train his staff and they keep forgetting the policy!
Difficult because he is such a lovely man, but hey ho, if they accept them, they accept them! Dont want to get banned from my local Asda though as I do believe they are the best supermarket for money saving. Lot cheaper than Sainsburys and Tesco.
Sympathise with Welsh Dragon now. Fortunately have car, can travel, will go and tarnish my reputation elsewhere!

Hello Felicity - oh no the nets are tightening around us voucher users !!!! I can sympathise with you.
I have never met my local Tesco Manager although he must know my name alot because, I complained to Tesco HQ CS who contacted him and I complained to the head of Tescos who wrote to him. But despite my complaints I have never spoken to the chap and don't feel the need at the moment. I do feel paranoid when I visit but never use vouchers so they have no cause for complaint with me. It doesn't help either that Mr Welshy's workmates wife works on the CS desk so I try not to create waves but it does come to something when I walk past CS desk and they say hi how are you today (obviously a sign of too much shopping !).
If the manager told me I could only use 10% then I would but the silence has been deafening so I don't bother much with that store.
I have also got a new part-time occupation as a mystery shopper cannot say which clients but it is one way of travelling further affield, visiting new Tescos and going somewhere where I feel comfortable shopping.

Sorry to sound slow....but...
Do Tesco's accept vouchers for products which you havn't purchased?0 -
Hello pauldreed  welcome to MSE
Yes Tescos can accept money off vouchers without the customer buying the product but is dependent on many factors, the cashier, the local management of Tescos and their own interpretation of the Tesco Policy from HQ. The regulars always say on here it is a bonus BUT not an automatic right. Here is my copy of the Tesco voucher policy for your info:
Thank you for your email. Any coupons, which display the Tesco logo, are Tesco specific. We only accept these if the products referred to on the coupons are purchased. This is because we negotiate savings with our suppliers on the condition that these actual products will be purchased.
With regard to coupons from brand name manufacturers, we are happy to accept one, even if you have not purchased the product. The coupon must be in date and Tesco must sell the item. If you present more than one identical coupon, then you must purchase the same number of products.
This also applies to coupons printed from the Internet. These will only be accepted at the discretion of the Store Manager.
Thank you for giving me the opportunity to explain our policy.
If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to contact us at customer.service@tesco.co.uk
However, as per this thread many of the regular coupon users have been experiencing difficulties recently, although others can use them without any problems. A case of swings and roundabouts and lots of inconsistency by Tescos.
Best advice is just to try one or two at the beginning, to test the water and then you feel happier handing over several when you are more confident.
Hope that helps - Welshy x

Yes, they do. Asda and Waitrose do, too.pauldreed wrote:Sorry to sound slow....but...

However, there is a lot of variation between stores as to exactly how many they will take; most stores tend to stick to the 10% rule.
HTH and have a look around this board, you'll find loads more info on this here.
