I smell a troll,
either that or what the OP wants is a hig lottery win, right now.
He wants it all and he wants it now.
Lifes not like that my friend. What you want isnt attainable so you just have to accept that and get on with what you do have.
I'm with Kim Yeovil, you need to grow up and sort your head out like an adult.
Your a real help, thanks. Are you my dad by any chance?0 -
Thank you for all the help & advice. I can understand the frustration of some of the more negative posters but would advise them to be less judgemental as they know nothing about me or why I am in debt. I am not going to reveal the ins & outs of my private life here.
I do feel different from when I posted a couple of days ago and more positive about my situation. I just get tired of it all once in a while as, like I said, I have always tried to do the right thing but where has it got me? Not looking for a quick fix just a plan, of which I am starting to formulate with your support.
Cheers0 -
lifeonhold- change you name to new beginning - you have made the first step - you life is not on hold anymore - make plans and stick to them - personally ihave taken on 2 extra jobs and it certainly helps - i use cash now to buy things - its harder to hand over than hard earned tenner than to use the card.
keep your head held high and if you can pluck up even more courage and place an SOA on the debt free wannabe board then they will be able to help you cut corners and make things hopefully a little easier on you?

I hope you get to formulate the right plan and carry it out to completion one of these days. Good luck!0 -
KY I agree pay debts as quick as you can but in a realisitic way that you can afford, cab look at your income and expenses and work out an amout thats realistic and affordable. They are non judgemental in their attitude and look at the whole picture, including housing and benefits as a way to up your income. The dont say hey you are making 30 k what you doing here.
realising there is a problem and facing it is awesome that so many people have the courage to even attend and tell a complete stranger all their problems.
There are loads of entrepreneurs on here making cash via ebay, especially on this thread up your income. its about looking at the whole picture not just one aspect. good luck.:A0 -
Hi, this will probably be some where already. I'd get your debts onto the best interest rate you can get. This should free up a good amount of money. Use that money each month to pay those debts off. You haven't had the cash so you're not going to miss it.
I got sick of my debt, it was very depressing and I still get depressed by it too. It does feel like you'll never get rid of it but if you make a plan then put just a little aside each month you can have a treat now and again, maybe a day trip with your child.
I'd say get out of your debt, once you've done that you can focus on making money. If you start to try to make money different ways then that could cause you to go into more debt if things went tits up.
I'm not an expert, just my 2 pence0 -
£30K per annum and you think you are poor? £30K per annum and you are 'scraping' by? If you are that delusional then it is psychological, not entrepreneurial, help that you require. Contact your GP.
I agree with this! Try living on £12,750 a year and your partner on £14,000, then being made redundant and having NOTHING. My partner has a massive loan and is in debt and he can't even afford his half of the rent and bills. I can't even afford to eat let alone pay my bills. I rent privately so can't speak to the Council and get help. I am going to get evicted from my flat and then I won't be able to rent again. Try living on my money then you'll understand, and there's people who are worse off than me as well!!0 -

My only income is from my job where I work in the public sector and get £30k. I just about scrape by every month on my wage but it usually tight. I get no financial help from my daughter's mother and don’t have wealthy relatives or siblings.
How long have you been working in the public sector for? I know their pensions are like 2/3rd's pay and a bag of gold after 35 years, much better then private sector anyways....
How come your daughters mother does not contribute? Your hardly "scraping" by on 30k a year either.... average wage in the UK is 21k....0 -
Hi lifeonhold,(and yes I agree with BandtheB - I'd change your name to new beginnings or looking ahead
)
You can choose to listen to what you want - the negative or the positive, I would choose the latter, they are far more helpful to you, the first is of no use to you at all.
I am stunned by some of the comments on here - some of the them quite nasty and sorry but if someone judged my child without even knowing them I would be quite offended!
This person may earn more than some and less than others but it's the outgoings that are the important factor here and I truly have been there myself and still am - it's how you deal with it that counts. I blame no-one else but myself for my debts but lifeonhold simply asked for help not judgement and I thought this is what this forum was all about - help and support for one another?
Also it's not really anybody's business why the mother doesn't contribute is it?!
Big respect for BeautyandtheBeast,MadMinx and The Big H
Good luck lifeonhold - take some of the positive advice, act on it and you'll get there

I've been through various stages of wealth so far in life, ups and downs, months where I still have money left in the bank by the next pay day, months where I run out of money two weeks before pay day (!). Although the money will bring you peace of mind and make a lot of headaches go away, it doesn't really bring happiness. I used to think that having money to spend would bring me happiness and it did, in a way but, as I spent it, my balance would go down and I would be unhappy again! That's the kind of superficial happiness we could all do without. True happiness is my family, my fiancee, moments I share with people, the weekly pub quiz (even if we loose EVERY week!), cooking and eating mexican food, playing the piano, bonding with the cat...
So tackle your finances, yes, that will always be a good thing, but remember you can be stable and happy or unstable and happy0
