cleaning mould off tiles when you can't reach!

My bathroom tiles are looking quite shabby at the moment and are in need of some TLC. My bathroom often gets a mouldy ceiling (despite the window being open a lot) and the tiles near the ceiling also look a bit manky.
The problem is that I can't reach them so they get a scoosh with spray and a wipe with a sponge/scrubby on a pole (wileda thing). It isn't making much difference so I am looking for any tips to solve this problem.
I am hesitant to put a chair or stepladder in the bath incase it cracks (petite and delicate I aint!) and I cant get at it if I put a step ladder at the side of the bath. Given the design of most bathrooms, this is clearly not a unique situation so how do you all solve it? In the most MSE way of course!

I usually stand on the sides of the bath, straddling it and shuffle along as I go. I use a chair for the other side of the room and streeeeetch. Not the safest option I'm afraid.
Sorry, can't offer any other suggestions, but I'm sure someone with more knowledge than me will be along soon .....0 -

I use a scrubby thing on a pole. I don't know if this might be helpful.....we're having some tiling done in our kitchen at the moment and I was talking to the tiler about that black mould that you get on bathroom tiles & grout that is really hard to get off and he recommended Detox Mould & Mildew remover. He said it's in Wilko's for less than £3.........which it was. I've tried it on the worst of the black mould problem in our bathroom which was the tiles down behind the loo & cistern and have to say it did remove it and the tiles look loads better.2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

I have a scrubby thing on a pole but the tiles are those mini ones with bevelled edges (like an old fashioned swimming pool or closey) and at one point I took a large scrubbing brush to the lower ones which has removed some of the grout. I suppose I need them cleaned and regrouted - will my chores ever end?
I will have a look for the detox stuff but will try taping an old toothbrush to a pole and trying that will bleach first. If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0 -
Hi Ali,
Just another thought - could you borrow a steam cleaner - one like a vacuum, ie with long poles? You could then reach the top and corners and kill the mould and clean the tiles at the same time?0 -

Genius! :T I have got a vax one in the cupboard next to the bathroom (doh!) but never thought to use it. It even has a wee scrubby brush attachment. I can't believe I never thought of that, well done you! At least that idea won't kill me :rotfl:If you always do what you have always done, you will always get what you always got!0
