Hi there, I have 6 month left of the free dental care, I have already had a couple of emergency fillings, but was wondering what you can get done... can you get whitening, swapping silver for white fillings done? I have paid enough tax and NI in my time, I might as well get what I can :rotfl:

You can get any necessary dentistry done on the NHS. So make sure you have a checkup in the next 6 months and arrange for any necessary treatment, and then keep up the regular dental appointments even when you have to pay for them.
None of what you describe sounds 'necessary', it's just cosmetic.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -

nope. You dont get free nhs dentistry for the sake of it. You get provided treatment that is needed to provide you with dental health so If you still what tooth whitening and white fillings in back teeth then you would still most likely need to pay for it. Particularly the tooth whitening. That has never been available on the NHS. The dental hospitals are even barred from providing it ... certainly cardiff is0 -
Both times when I was pregnant my dentist persuaded me to get a few crowns which were really just cosmetic. I think it helped his cash flow. For the last couple of years I have lost most of these teeth through abcesses, now have spaces and have been pricing expensive implants. It is not a good idea to get any work done over what is totally neccessary. Everytime they replace a filling they take away more of the tooth. Crowns and veneers take away a lot of the tooth and if it goes wrong you need the tooth out. Look after what you have got that is the painful lesson I have learned.0
