Hi Everyone,
Any ideas where I can find a saxaphone teacher in the B'ham/midlands area please? Have bought the sax but the noises i'm getting out of it are upsetting the neighbours!!!!

Thanx :o

Why did I misread your title? :p

Have you asked in any music shops, or at your local university (if they have music courses)?

Here's a couple of 'find a teacher' websites:

www.musicteachers.co.uk - anyone can register here, so probably best to look for a teacher with 'proper' qualifications (music degree perhaps, teaching experience) rather than someone who's just passed a few instrumental grade exams.

Incorporated Society of Musicians - This is a professional body, so there's probably a better chance of getting a properly qualified teacher from here.

Expect to pay £12+ per half hour lesson and be wary of anyone charging less; it's better to pay more and have half as many lessons than pay less for a bad teacher (pay peanuts get monkeys etc.). Some teachers may teach from their homes, some may travel (there may be slight price differences - cheaper if you travel to them probably). Most sax teachers should teach all styles of music (classical, jazz, rock, pop etc.) but it's probably worth establishing this before you commit to lessons just in case they can't cater to your need.

Good luck with your search, and I hope you (and your neighbours!) get many hours of enjoyment from your saxophone.

    :)

go into the birmingham central library -there is a music departmwent there, where they keep a list of teachers in the area. I think you ask at the desk for the book. Also if you go into the conservatoire (music college )there may be a notice board offering lessons
