reduced BOGOF's?

can anybody out there help me solve a dispute i have with my local Spar? yesterday I popped in there to buy a bag of fresh salad leaves. They were BOGOF @99p a bag, so 2 for 99p. But, they had been reduced to 60p, so I picked up 2 bags thinking it would still be BOGOF @ 60p a bag, so 2 bags for 60p. At the checkout I was charged £1.20. I queried this and was told that as they were reduced they were no longer BOGOF. I pointed out to them that in my opinion they were actually profiteering as they were only 99p a bag with BOGOF so 2 bags =99p on BOGOF but £1.20 for 2 reduced bags.
I know at my local sainsburys BOGOF is BOGOF even if its reduced. Surely what Spar are doing is in breach of the Consumer Protection Act? I did not buy the 2 bags, only bought 1, but was still left confused.

If they dont have signs up stating that reduced items are not BOGOF it will be mispricing, Tesco honour reduced BOGOF's, have a word with trading standards

But, if they do have a sign stating that reduced items are NOT subject to BOGOFs etc (and many shops do) then they haven't done anything wrong, even if they are charging more than the standard (BOGOF) price.

At the end of the day, you could reject the goods when you see the price and you've not lost anything apart from a double-reduction bargain.

It annoys me greatly when shops with this policy stupidly reduce things to less than half the original price, but I'm sure it's normally numptiness rather than intentional.

Thanks for your replies. I have since checked if there were any notices and there are not any saying either. The BOGOF label was actually printed on the bag, not a sticky label. I was annoyed mainly because I did want 2 bags but i was not willing to pay £1.20 for 2 almost out of date bags when I should have been able to have 2 fresh bags for 99p on BOGOF! Anyway, I normally spend about £45 a week in there just on a saturday doing my works lotto syndicate and topping up my gas and electric PAYG so I shall protest with my feet and do it all elsewhere. This morning I bought pizzas on a BOGOF offer for a reduced price of 50p for the 2 from Siansburys, so different shops must have different policies. All very annoying for the unsuspecting consumer.
