I'd wear a suit - you're very unlikely to lose 'points' in the interview for wearing one, but you may be marked down if you dress too informally. If it's too hot, just take the jacket off when you get to the interview (if the room's hot, the interviewers likely won't be wearing jackets themselves).

I always dress smartly for interviews myself, regardless of what I'd wear if I got the job. Put on the suit, though, and then forget it - don't let it make you feel uncomfortable!

You mention asking what type of clothes to wear - only do this after being offered the job (it's not really something you'd want to bring up at interview).

    Good luck!

When asking questions at the end of an interview, you should generally be thinking of questions that will make them more likely to offer you the job (or, if you're a shoe-in for the job, questions that will make them likely to offer better terms). Asking about dress code is very unlikely to achieve this for most jobs: it can be important, but more something you'd ask when getting ready for your first day at work. Hopefully there are other interesting aspects of the job that you can ask about in the interview.

I say this whilst ducking and don't want to offend anyone BUT.... If it's a decent suit wear the suit. If it's a Supermarket/SomethingMark Suit, give to a charity shop and go Smart Casual. An awful suit creats an awful impression, as does one that doesn't fit and looks like your Dads.

I would always go smart if I was able.

I am now a gardener and I wore a suit for my interview; a good one Liney, a good one. :D

Never ever ask at interview what sort of clothes to wear; use your eyes and see what people are wearing on day one and dress to match them. Then, when you want to be promoted, start dressing to match that job - slowly though, don't suddenly make the change.

its a decent from a suit shop not some back street supermarket suit seller, i was pretty much made to buy 1 as im likely to need 1 for other functions in the future

I've never interviewed someone in a suit and thought 'wow, they're too over dressed for the job', however I have been put off a candidate because they clearly haven't made an effort, it makes you think that if they can't be bothered to find something decent to wear then they don't care whether they impress you or not.

If it is a warm day it's perfectly acceptable to remove your jacket at the start of the interview.

Good luck, I hope it goes well.

Or even at Reception, on a VERY warm day, but make sure you're 'organised' and that nothing falls out of the pockets and keep your right hand free for handshakes etc.

Also make sure you have EXCELLENT deodorant / antiperspirant on, nothing worse than taking off your jacket and your shirt is soaked down to your waist ...
Signature removed for peace of mind

I agree with the consensus. Even if I knew that all the workers dressed casually in the office, I would still wear a suit to the interview.
