Marks on wallpaper or repairing?

Options
Help! I ned to remove some marks from wallpaper - 1 is a large black 'scuff', the other looks like someone has had tehir head their so it it greasy  .

Had thought of trying an eraser on black mark, or possibly bread?

Would it be possible to have a very quick go with detergent on the greasy mark, if so, what one would you recommend?

As an alternative, there is enough spare paper to re do the 2 strips with greasy marks - but these are in the middle of the wall - presumably it would be impossible to remove teh strips - has anyone tried putting 1 or 2 strips over existing paper in thsi wasy - does it work?

Thanks all.

I'd go with the bread - or try blu-tack as that rubs marks away (I've used it as a rubber before now).

Not sure about the grease - bread might soak it up?

I wouldn;t put paper over paper, as it will be riased slightly, and probably also a different colour now, and it will show more than the marks I'd think.

Sorry I can;t be more help but I don;t have wallpaper.

the secret when repairing is to tear a piece from the roll to put over the damaged piece do it very carefully and glue down well, straight edges always show but uneven ones dont show much

you could try using a medium iron over kitchen towel to try to get the grease out

Take a cloth & dampen (not soak - or you'll have no wallpaper ;)) with a few drops of Stardrops (miracle working product - does everything except cook dinner! :) - available everywhere) and gently dab at marks.
If you're really nervous use a cotton bud. This product can be used for everything from doing your laundry, washing up, cleaning the oven, mopping the floor and getting rid of stains in sinks or on carpets or walls.
If I could just find someone to cook dinner...:)

  • You could try a little white toothpaste - it is gently abrasive and I have used it to remove crayon and biro on vinyl wallpaper before. Just rub gently with a muslin type cloth.

I have also patch repaired wallpaper which has become scuffed with fireguard fixings and it didn't look too bad at all.
