Financial advisors - are they worth it??

Just wanting a bit of advice on Financial Advisors, are they worth using? who pays them, the mortgage company or is it hidden in the costs to us?
Many thanks..
The only thing that is hidden is the people who have responded and said they are okay are all either mortgage or financial advisors/brokers.
So im afraid you are going to get very biased views, if you ask someone if their job is worthwhile, i doubt very much they will say no.
Maggie runs a financial consultancy
Vigilante is a financial advisor/ mortgage advisor
dan 1976 is a ex financial/ mortgage advisor
To these people before any of you keep on saying how great they are why dont you share with the person asking the question what you do or you have done?0 -

Fact is this:
If the person is good they are worth their fee - especially if his fee isnt even paid by you, as someone said Advisors can be paid just by the lender.
If you get a duffer, then then they will just cause you problems. The best way to get a good advisor is to ask for a personal recommendation from someone you know has been through the same situation as you and was happy with the service they recieved.
Rather than ask if the career of Financial/Mortgage Advisor is justified (clearly it is or we wouldnt be here!) Ask how do you find a good one.I am a Mortgage Adviser

It depends whether you are prepared to do your research and how committed you are to push things through to the end.0
