Manchester city centre

Hi all

Going to be in Manchester for a few hours tomorrow and we're trying to think of a few (cheap) options for things to do to keep us out of the shops a little. . . any ideas?

Its a date if that makes any difference

Not really wanting to walk too much

We're due to arrive in the Oxford Road station

University Museum, free. I haven't been for years now but it used to be brilliant and I believe still is. Lots of tree frogs and the like.
Just walk straight down Oxford Road, away from town. Its on the main road in the main old uni building,

Is there not an art gallery too? They usually have good cafes!

Oh yes there's the Whitworth and the City Art Gallery. Whitworth's a little further out, the other's in the centre. Both good, if you like that kinda thing (which I don't :P) and both indeed have nice cafes!
