Mortgage on a 1 year employment contract

My fiance is looking to buy our first house ( I am unable to join the process at this stage as a ex bankcruptee! ) He owns his own company which has been paying his salary for the last two years but due to the recession is now having to go out and get a salary elsewhere until the situation improves. He has been offered a one year contract with one of his partners on 35k, would this be enough to get a mortgage? He has a 40,50k deposit to put down and we were hoping to borrow 150k. is this likely.

Ok. So you are unable to help offically with the mortgage. So why not save some more and increase the size of your deposit. Until such time as the future becomes clearer. All the while you move further away from your own history.
