Egg Loan Direct Debit Problems since December 2009

Hello,

I have had a problem with my Egg loan direct debit since December 2009 due to the fact that I re-set up my direct debit with a different bank. I received conformation on the phone and via email from EGG that everything was in place and the direct debit will be taken out each month. I then received a letter explaining that they have not received any payment on my account. This also denied access to my online loan transaction page which stops me from viewing conformation payments sent to egg. For some reason there is an administration error on their part as the direct debit was never cancelled and is still active and for some strange reason, the direct debit it set up to start in August 2010.

Every time I call I am referred to an overseas number which is handling my account and the only response I get from them is "MAKE A BACS PAYMENT". This does not resolve my issue of THEIR administration errors and all I want is for them to amend the direct debit amount, and the start date and give me my web access back so I can see a receipt of this transaction.

My question is,

1) Is there a way I can freeze this loan until they have resolved their issues as I am worried it will affect my credit rating.

2) If it does affect my credit rating, what can I do?
