Royalties in the music field - does anyone know

Options
I understand that composers will receive royalties from there music made.

But this talent record company state that if you go with them as a performer they retain all royalties and singers also have to contribute towards the costs of the studio. Something does not seem right here. Do you agree?

If you do cover versions of songs is the performer still entitle to royalties from the song they sang? Cause if not how else would they make their money?

Thanks.

When you have a contract with a record company the performer will negotiate a certain percentage (perhaps 10-15%) as royalties. "This talent record company" are looking to make a quick buck from gullible people who think they can sing a bit. And not from royalties because I can't see where they would come from, but from the payment to use the studio.
