Google Goes Green

Google has been green for a while now but the things they achieved are amazing, no other company of such stature have done it.

That's just bizarre I'm afraid. That 0.2g/CO2 per internet search is nothing to be proud about. In fact whilst it is possible to be 'proud' at how big you've become (which is, I think, is Google's actual message) your conservation efforts only then make sense in an infinitely expandable economy.

And I would add that if you have to shout about it......

  • Do google state how much electricity they use? My guess is if they did it would give away information to the competition. So even if it was independently verified nobody would be able to see the evidence.

Is the US as bad as the UK for double accounting renewable energy?

They use fuel with 20% biofuel, the rest being fossil fuel, and are happy to advertise corn in the image. Quite likely large amounts are from Bt corn and use loads of fertilisers on large monocultures.
