The old chestnut of want v need.
You do not NEED £3000 to buy a car.
You do not NEED a car.
You do not NEED to get yourself into £3000 of debt."An arrogant and self-righteous Guardian reading tvv@t".
!!!!!! is all that about?0 -
The op seems to have gone very quiet. Presumably he did not like the good advice/opinions.I can afford anything that I want.
Just so long as I don't want much.0 -
My first car cost £150 (1991)
My current car cost £461 (2007).
You don't 'need' £3k for a car, you would like £3k for a car.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
My first 2 cars together cost less than my youngest's mobile phone!! Gave me 2 years to save for a more decent one!One life.0

remember you have to pay for insurance which quiet high when you are a young male, look at least £150 a month for that
then tax will be roughly £10 a month
then £ 45 for a tank full of fuel
then maintenance
then breakdown cover
then mot.........
if you could get a loan to get the car, then you wuouldnt be abloe to run it. wait till june when you are working and DONT get HP. biggest mistake i have ever made! Finally rebuilding my Credit Record

You don't 'need' £3k for a car, you would like £3k for a car.
First car cost £800 (1993)
Last car cost £26,500 (2010)
£3k is fine for a car if you are working and can afford it.
Being a layabout means you can't. Why wait for June for a temporary job? There IS work available if you are not too lazy to look for it.

Lol WTTM, think I would have heart failure paying more than 5k for a car let alone 26.5k...but then I am a bit of a miser!
My most expensive car was 3.5k, Audi A4 in 2003 ish (both of us working though) and that gave me the flutters.
Used to drive (my now ex) hubby completely mental. We made it! Cars are a waste of money, I'm first to admit it, last one before that cost £26,350 so I'm not learning from my mistakes

I don't blame you spending a lot of money on a car if you can afford it. I wish I could. You're a long time dead and you can't take it with you.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0
