    Thanks for that

Won't your credit rating be wrecked anyway if you don't pay the full amount your creditors require. It will go down on the Credit register as a default of the original agreement.

Yeah it would be but I'm paying my creditors the required amount each month so it doesn't wreck my credit report! :)

I would have a look at the factsheets on this website. They're pretty good at answering your questions and putting it all into simple language.

    http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/scotland/index.php

    For comparison,

IVA roughly = protected trust deed
    Bankruptcy roughly = sequestration

    (English to Scots terminology)

I would also use 'back to work' interviews with jobcentre to see what they can come up with for retrurning to work after a long break.. sometimes they have specialist employer relationships which can help.

In some parts of Scotland there are also local employment inititiatives, and it can be worthwehile tracking them down. It's not *exciting* work, mind, but it is work!

editied to say.. it's late and i can't spell after midnight!!!

Thanks I have had a quick look at the above website. I put in in my favourites folder to have a better look tomorrow. It is too late and my brain is not functioning well at this time.:o

No worries. If you need a hand finding out about development boards etc in your area, pm me the town (I understand you might not want to post it publically) and I'll see what I can turn up.
    Debt free 4th April 2007.
New house. Bigger mortgage. MFWB after I have my buffer cash in place.

Lucky you. I wish I could. My credit rating was excellent just a few short weeks ago. Now it has just gone down the pan. Will check thread tomorrow to see if you have come up with the Scottish threads for me.

    Thanks again:A

I am sorry to hear about your financial affairs. The first thing you must do is decide if your husband is well enough to return to work. You will need to see your GP about this. If the GP tells your husband to refrain from work, your husband has 28 days to appeal the Decision from the IB decisionmaker. Form 24 is the one you need....If you disagree with our decision.

Immediately another claim must be made. He must either claim for JSA or a reduced rate of Income Support while the appeal is going through.
    Once the claim has started,
    1.reclaim your council tax,
    2.Housing Benefit
3.and apply for a crisis loan to keep you going. Have you checked the site https://www.entitledto.co.uk

The DWP have a system. You need to know how to make your claims, and how to read their wording. Once you have the DWP paperwork started, make your appointment to see the CAB or the debt advisors that are recommended on this site.
The DWP benefits are there for you to use, however you need to get your application started immediately.
    Good Luck
Today, my BEST is good enough.
