Late Payment

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum. I got a USC store card which I purchased goods totalling £96 which I sent them a cheque for the full amount dated 2nd December 2005. I received a phone call from Creation (which is the credit company USC use) about the middle of Decenber saying they had never received my cheque, i told them i had sent it and it must have got caught up in the post the person on the phone was quite cheeky.

I received a letter from them charging me late payments which also has interest incurred on it, i never opened the a couple of the letters from Creation as i thought i didnt have anything to pay as i had never bought anything else from USC, so i couldnt beleive they were charging me this after i explained to them i had already sent my payment.

I phoned Creation and tried to explain this to them but they were not helpful at all, the person on the phone was saying i had to pay it but she would give me some money off if i paid something but i didnt think i should pay anything.
They have passed this on to another debt agency Newman.
I went to my bank and got a copy of the cheque i sent to them which i am going to send to them.

What do think i should do.

What date was the cheque cashed? I would send them a copy statement from your account showing the day it was cashed and see what they say.
