Made mine this month too. I'm still waiting for acceptance letters and holding my breath. We are having sooo many calls to ignore though.
    Best of luck

Our phone has been off the hook for a week or so.

I'm scared to answer it, don't know what to say.

One of our smaller debts has written refusing to accept our offer, threatening court etc, demanding payment by the 12th. I know it's them that keep ringing.

I really should answer the phone, but the kids are always here due to school holidays, and it's not something I want to discuss with them around

It must be the month for it as I've made my first payment to the CCCS as well.

Not heard anything about rejections or acceptances, but during the paperwork phase I got a few phone calls from creditors asking about payment and I told them there and then giving them my client reference number so I think that has stopped a lot of my phone calls and letters.

The only company we're really getting anything from is Co-op Credit Card, but they are just being filed away in the creditors file (no not the bin!) :rotfl:

Having been on a DMP with CCCS for over 2 years now (if only I'd seen sense a few consolidation loans sooner!) I can confirm that the calls and letters do eventually calm down. It does take a few months though and the tone and level of insistence used by the companies doesn't really improve at first. Be prepared for all kinds of threats of CCJ's, etc. If your worried give CCCS a call. They will calm you down. As they said to me - if a company wants to take you to court - don't lose sleep. Your paying as much as you can afford, you have no more money. The court will recognise that.

I'm 2 years into my DMP and still got a long way to go. Not got any spare cash floating about, couldn't get any more credit even if I wanted to (and I can't see that I would want to ever again) but at least I don't have to worry about being the first person to collect the post in the morning just incase there is something nasty there. At least I don't need to try to subtly pull the phone jack out of the socket so that my family don't realise that x many debt collectors are after me. Don't know the last time I had one of those calls where they ask you to confirm the security details.

It will get better - honest!

Right, I've just been really brave.

    I answered the phone :T

I actually only answered it because I thought it was the kids, but it was Black Horse.

So far they have been our worst creditor, several letters and many many phone calls even on a Sunday (unanswered)

Anyway, it was a really nice girl, and I could tell she felt quite uncomfortable having to ask me the things she did. She was querying the CCCS budget they had received, said some things seemed quite excessive.

Didn't understand how, and Wonder Girl had gone through my budget with a fine tooth comb, ta WG

Black Horse woman said that if we went without the £40 permitted for leisure activities and very small amount allowed for sundries (she pronounced this sun dries) then we could pay their payment

I was at a loss as to how to reply really, said I had to follow the guidelines given to me by CCCS of £10 per person per month for leisure.

As I said, the girl was really nice, so I didnt swear, but explained that I had never missed a payment until now, had lost my job, and was doing my best.

She said to just carry on making the token payments with CCCS :D

    Cheeky people

  • Hi
Glad to hear things have picked up for you both. My husband and I went to the CCCS this time last year when credit cards and HP got out of hand. Great we thought at the time, but our creditors don't appear to have stopped the interest. therefore, even though they say we will be debt free in 5 years, how can this be.
We have been told that eventually our creditors will get fed up and sell the debt on ... have you been informed of this.
When I phoned them recently they suggested we go for an IVA.
would love to hear your thoughts - and those of anyone else out there on this subject.
  • if you are getting hassle from Abbey (or the MBNA group i.e. ABBey credit card), we got on to BT and found out how to put in a pin number after to block the call. This worked for a few weeks, then, however, they referred it to their office in southern Ireland. This call comes up as International and cannot be barred.
The calls were nasty. In the end we told BT we were getting harassing phone calls from a creditor and asked to change the number - which we did free of charge.

cor, it's really nice to hear the calls should stop soon. can't say i blame them tho as my payments have reduced so dramatically, but they can get quite nasty if you answer by accident as i have done eg. if it's a no. i don't recognise as theirs. it's hard to know how to answer their demands without getting abit shirty back!!
I still haven't heard from the majority of creditors. ( there are 10, is that alot???) MBNA, and n/wide have said no so far, but no surprises there!! How long does it take for all the proposal paperwork etc to get approved/ declined? i've already paid the 1st payment.
