I forgot that I had sirloin steaks in the fridge and noticed today they were best before the 3rd Aug. They still look fine, red not brownish. Is it ok to cook and eat them? I don't wish to food poison my family.
In the past I would have thrown them away but we are on a tight budget and I cant afford to throw food away no more.

I think with beef you would notice the smell if they were off - so open the packet and see - if smell bad they are off.Saving in my terramundi pot £2, £1 and 50p just for me! :j0

Hi, Pixey!
I'd have a sniff and see if they smell bad. If not they're probably fine. I'd eat them then, but might not give them to my children, to be on the safe side. I'd cook htem through, not eat them rare as usual, just to be on the safe side.
