Hi, wasn't sure where to post this as there wasn't a section specifically headed Debt Collection Agencies - so apologies.
Basically, this company LSC have phoned my mobile twice from this number 0845 6033521 and both times left the same message.... that I am to phone them urgently quoting the reference number they left.
I'd never heard of them and only realised they were a Debt Collection agency when I googled 'LSC' and the phone number.
Should I phone them back or just ignore them? I have no idea what they want or where they got my mobile number from.
Thanks for any help.

I would ignore them, if its important and they have traced the correct person they will write to you.
What you could do to be sure, is check your credit file. This sound explain how to get your file for £2 - http://www.ico.gov.uk/for_the_public/topic_specific_guides/credit.aspxAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Thanks for the reply - unfortunately that link doesn't work.
I guess I'm just wondering what these people can possibly want? Surely they'd write to me if there was an outstanding debt? Or at least use my landline number...
Just don't want it affecting things if I ignore the call... conversely, I don't want to acknowledge them by answering the call in case that goes against me.
Thanks.0 -
Debt collectors are horrible on the phone, so if i was you i would wait for written letters. The link does work, just click on it do not copy and paste it into your address bar.

I have also been having calls from LSC debt collectors about an electricity bill with british gas for 3 years ago. i contacted british gas who said my account was fully paid and the debt was for the person who moved into the rented property after i did. the debt collection agency had rang the estate agents who had freely given my name and mobile number to them even though the dates did not match up, so i would contact the person they reckon you owe money to and see what they say about it. i am trying to get a number for LSC at the minute to tell them where to go. am extremely angry with the estate agent involved and will also be calling them to say they have breached the data protection act and will be hearing from my solicitor regarding compensation0
