Barclays Defaulted Overdraft w/o Notice
Hi,
I wonder if anyone can tell me if I have a genuine gripe, please.
I recently received a letter from Barclays telling me that a business overdraft I had with them has been handed over to Debt Managers, which I am now in the process of paying off. As my business failed, I found it nigh on impossible to make any inroads into the outstanding balance for a couple of years as I had other financial commitments to deal with first, but I have now had my hand forced, which I suppose is fair enough because they want their money back.
However, my gripe is that the letter from Barclays stated that the bank would no longer enter into any further communication with me, despite the fact that they did not communicate with me once regarding the balance while the account was still 'live'. They have now closed it, resulting in a default on my credit record.
Do Barclays have to prove that they have tried to contact me or can they just arbitrarily close my account? If they do have a case to answer, what course of action should I take?
Thanks in advance

you should receive a default notice so it gives you the opportunity to pay in full so avoiding your credit record showing the default.0

Thanks Clapton,
I'll give them a ring to find out what they've been playing at.0
