in Cutting tax
Hi,
In the 2006/2007 tax year I only started working in August 2006 (was overseas before this) so I assumed that I would have overpaid tax based on a full year.
I earned 18795.92 and was taxed 2768.32 on taxcode 503L. From what I can see on HMRC website the threshold was 5035 for a single person under 65years old.
Am I entitled to a refund? I thought I would but cant find an online tax calculator that takes part years into account.
Thanks

What were you doing while you were abroad and how long had you been abroad?£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

The calculator on listen to taxman works the liability out at £2769.38 so the figure you quoted sounds about right.
It shouldn't matter that you didn't work the whole year. It's the amount you get in the time that you did work that counts, if that makes sense. From Starrystarrynight to Starrystarrynight1 and now I'm back...don't have a clue how!0 -

Thanks. It sounds like I am not entitled to any refund.

I was living overseas for about 2.5 years as a non-UK tax resident before this.0
