what's the most secure free email provider?

Hi,
What's your advice on a free email provider which I can access from any computer? - I need one that is secure as I do a lot of internet banking, shopping etc.
Best wishes

It is only as secure as you make it with your password and password reset questions.

Try a standard google mail account.

    - Can run over https, in case you use it on a public internet connection. Also uses encryption if you use it via a mail client.
    - Includes a decent spam filter to get rid of those phishing emails. Also highlights many phishing scams automatically.
    - Lets you see IP addresses of the last few people who logged into the account if you suspect someone has your password.
    - Virus scans attachments

+1 just for this alone, the other week it stopped 2 emails with the 'UPS failed delivery' nasty, it then informed me of what it had done.
    Move along, nothing to see.
  • +2 for GMail. Spam filter's excellent and the password reset options are good too. You can enter a phone number for a password reset code to be sent to should you forget it.
  • Hi,
Many thanks for the advice re google mail - I have created an account with what I think is a very strong password and the site looks very good.
