Advice please.Recently sent copy of SAR letter to Yorkshire bank. They have returned my£10.00 postal order and stated they have no information to send me due to the fact my account is closed and they no longer have records.Problem is the account is still active and running today yet they will not send me any information on my account.I contacted the FOS who advised me to put this in a letter to them as i have a case against YB with them at the moment .Is there anything else i can do to obtain my information.

A SAR is the final straw in obtaining data, it is legal request using data protection act 1998 to release copies of 'all' information they hold on you. As a bank they have a legal obligation to hold information so you should have no problem obtaining it from them.
Since the FOS has sided with you, i would use NIDs advanced SAR template, and in information provided to you by the FOS that they are siding with you. Hopefully this will help. http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=30356311&postcount=22
If that fails, last hope is ICO. This government bodies deals with information, and breaches of DPA. By not sending the data they are in breach and the ICO can investigate for you. You may want to go down this route whilst sending or do so before sending your 2nd SAR request. http://www.ico.gov.uk/complaints/data_protection.aspxAlthough no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.

Cheers for reply, they have already had the advanced version of the SAR,this is when they said they had no info on me despite the account being open.Think i will call the ico and see what they suggest.0

Ok, ICO would be your best bet now. They are refusing to comply with your request. Given an account number they obviously know it is open and running. With the support of ICO and FOS you are bound to get the information.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
