Help - Bank Charges

Hi guys, I need to offload as I'm fuming with my bank. If you can lend a helpful ear that'd be great and if you've got any advice please help me.

I logged onto internet banking today to find a note saying that on the 8th Aug the bank will be applying £69 worth of charges on my account (for two dd's over the o/d). I have never been in this situation before but I was fuming because this is less than a week away and they haven't even bothered to let me know. So off I trot to the bank to discuss this. I talk to a nice lady who says well we'll up your overdraft by £250 cos your a good customer and have been with us 6 years and then even when the charges are applied you wont be over the limit again, but it's up to the bank manager about the charges. In comes the bank manager who basicilly says tough we're applying the charges but I will send you a letter advising you about it and put off the charges till 7 days after that. Because I went on about the fact they hadn't let me know.

Then and there I have cancelled three accounts (a savings account with no money a cc with no balance and a flexiloan I had already paid off) with them. I have then phoned to make a formal complaint with the bank advising them that that charges are unfair and aren't proportional considering they didn't even bother to tell me they would be applied and that if i didn't recieve a refund then i would be moving my banking to another bank. They have advised they would get back to me in 5 days. I have looked into getting another acocunt with a different bank as i was worried cos it's 2 student accounts (mine and fiances) and a joint account but it's not as difficult as it seems. So unless I get a favourable reply I'm moving banks and hopefully if someone will show me how claiming the charges back through the courts if necessary.

Just really need some moral support here. I don't have £69 for them to take.

Thankyou if you got this far.

Sorry I just needed to rant.
