Hi All
This is my first post so please forgive any mistakes
Could anyone tell me how much a tarmac driveway might cost. The area we need tarmaced would be 1000 sq feet.
Any recomendations would also be welcome
Thanks:o

Depends what has to be done! Is it to replace an existing one or not? If it is a new house I would let existing ground settle for 5-6 months. A proper drivway needs a good base. If it is old driveway it needs dug out and a base laid then a top coat of "tarmac".Most people get bitmac but you can go for really up market driveway with really smooth tarmac(and white chippings)
What ever you do get a few written quotes and what the supplier is proposinh to do. Ask a neighbour who has got theirs done perhaps.
Whatever you do - do not employ the services of an itinerant trader!!!!!!!!. You will be able to brush it up after a year and put it in the bin! I also suggest you are circumspect when reponding to flyers that come through doors that only have mobile numbers. I have seen flyers with false addresses and addresses of itinerant campsites. You have little hope of redress if job is not done not right!
We all want a job done for as little as possible but if you pay £300 and other traders are quoting £2000 guess which one will last! You want a driveway to last 20 years not 20 weeks.0 -
You could try Brian Blakely Contractors from Newtownards. I have no connection with business but relatives employed his services a month ago to get driveway tarmaced. Seemed to do a good job but I am always loathe to recommend anyone just in case. In their case driveway was dug up and relaid. Plenty of cowboys would just have put a topcoat on.
Establish if VAT is included or not with all traders. Depends if you want to be part of the black economy or not.0 -
Thanks for the advice Sheerdelight - I am going to contact two contractors today.
Thanks again0 -
I just got a quote £860.00 for 46 sq.meter0
