Buying a different house to the mortgage offered one

We have just had an offer accepted on a second house after the first house fell through (the survey pulled up too much for us to cope with and the vendor wasnt prepared to drop the price)

What do we have to do about the mortgage, the offer had been confirmed and all paperwork accepted.

The new house is a bit more than the second (but still within the limits of the mortgage quote and our deposit) so we will need to add a bit to the mortgage

My H is speaking with the solicitor now to sort that side of things out but our mortgage was applied for through a broker - do we need to speak to the broker, the mortgage company or does the solicitor sort it?
