Hi, is it possible to enforce the CSA to only communicate via post and not ring me?
Reason being is that 9 times of 10, whenever anyone rings me I can't take the call. I tend to work at least 12 hrs 5 days a week, and during this time i'm either driving or in meetings - so unable to take the call and probably unable to respond to any questions anyway!
Thanks

Ask them to remove your number from their database.
But there is no way you can enforce it as such. I think you see the CSA as a debt which can come under the umbrella of 'normal' debts i.e offering a F&F for settlement of the debt and I am guessing from this question you were looking to quote the OFT guidlines to them.
They are a classed as a priority debt just after your mortgage/rent.0 -
I also meant to add that the CSA are open on a Saturday morning as well if that's any help to you.
You are probably better off dealing with them via letter/email anyway so they can't 'forget' what has been said in a phone call but as mentioned, there is nothing you can quote them to enforce it aside from ignoring the calls in which case they should write out to you.0 -
Thanks. Letter ready to be sent with a cheque for 10% of the claimed outstanding arrears, asking for an account breakdown & a copy of my files, and asking for all future communications to be by post. I'll see what happens next.
I'm not trying to avoid comms, just know that things said during phone calls can be quickly and easily forgotten, and 9 times out 10 I can't speak.Debts at 02/02/20: c£225,000 inc CCs of <£1000 repaid in full monthlyDebts at 14/07/10: £278,091 inc £24k unenforceable and £16k consumer debt. I never ever gave them my number, and they still called , then they wanted to go through security questions, I told them they should not be ringing and any correspondance should be via post as per previous correspondances, they have not called again, but perhaps that is because I have closed my fixed line account0 -

Ive been dealing with the CSA now for nearly five years, my understanding is that phone calls are recorded. I certainly have a stack of disks which I get every so often when I request a copy of all paperwork held.
Because phone calls are recorded they serve as a good record of what exactly was said during a phone call.
It seems reasonable though to ask the csa not to call due to work committments, but you should be aware that this may slow down things getting dealt with. When dealing with the CSA its important to note that it is commonly accepted as unfit for purpose, and by default this also means the staff are unfit for purpose.0 -
i normally contact them thru email via their site and tell them a convienent time to call, and its worked so far, but think in your case you would be best writing to them and sending recorded delivery stating you want all contact in writing from now on0

All my comunication with them has to be written, ICE has found against them for not complying with this as well.
It is your wright to insist that all comunication is in written form. They have to comply with you on this matter.0
