If you really need to get one, look for one with 0% for a certain period, so that you're not paying back heaps of interest.

Is there not any way you can just save the £300 per month and then pay for stuff? Or pay the £300 out each month to whoever needs paying? (venue/cake maker/photographer etc)

As we already had the cash saved we got an American express one which we get cash back on. Reckon we'll get about £200 back in the end:)

We've got a Tesco credit card which has 0% on purchases for the next 12 months. The main reason we have it it to collect the extra clubcard points which is going to contribute towards our honeymoon. No idea how much we'll end up collecting but just to save a bit of money would be worth it.

Edited to add: we pay it off each month so we can keep spending on it to keep accumulating points.
