nationwide 10yr fixed?

    I've just arranged the nationwide 10yr for new purchase, mainly for the mong term security of payments

    Just today signed up for thier 10yr fixed. Had previous mortgage with them. Financial Advisor couldn;t come up with anything better for what I wanted (fixed 5/10yrs and ability to overpay). Obviously the Nationwide limits overpayments to £500 each month, but pigs are likely to be seen flying before the day I can do that ;)

    I'm worried about the (without wanting to anger anyone- can't think of a better phrase) reckless spending of others causing rates to go up significantly over the next 5 - 10 yrs. Even the quality press is going on about how much in debt people are.

    so do Halifax offer same deals to existing customers - would save on fees

    Britannia have a five year fixed at 5.09% with a 499 fee at the mo.

    I like the option of walking into a local branch if ever I needed to which is why I took Nationwide in the end. There were some slightly better deals out there but in general with local lenders i.e Kent reliance

    On the remote iccle island I live on, Nationwide ticked every box.
