nationwide 10yr fixed?

I've just arranged the nationwide 10yr for new purchase, mainly for the mong term security of paymentsAlways on the hunt for a bargain0

Just today signed up for thier 10yr fixed. Had previous mortgage with them. Financial Advisor couldn;t come up with anything better for what I wanted (fixed 5/10yrs and ability to overpay). Obviously the Nationwide limits overpayments to £500 each month, but pigs are likely to be seen flying before the day I can do that

I'm worried about the (without wanting to anger anyone- can't think of a better phrase) reckless spending of others causing rates to go up significantly over the next 5 - 10 yrs. Even the quality press is going on about how much in debt people are.0 -
so do Halifax offer same deals to existing customers - would save on fees0

I like the option of walking into a local branch if ever I needed to which is why I took Nationwide in the end. There were some slightly better deals out there but in general with local lenders i.e Kent reliance
On the remote iccle island I live on, Nationwide ticked every box.0
