sorry to disappoint you all but e-passport photos are not free.
I was asked to pay £3.99 for 4 pictures. the best deal i found is on photobox with £3.98 for 8 pictures.
    How misleading

Sorry to contradict you lindelou but if you are referring to epassportphoto.com you can print a sheet off for free. You ignore the payment option and go to print. That said, I repeat one of mine was accepted, one was rejected.

You can use idphoto4you website to create valid passport photos.
    It is also free.
It knows many passport standards. It uses face detection, so very easy to use.

Thanks for this, just used idphoto4you.com to generate 8 passport photos on one 6" x 4" print. Saved the jpg to my memory stick and took it to local Tesco superstore where I printed it for 25p!

A brilliant website - dead easy to use, and free!

Photo looks fine to me, so I'm sure it will be accepted. But I did use Photoshop on my home PC to change the background to cream, as specified by the DVLA.

Just a warning that I used epassportphoto.com to create passport photos for my children's UK passports. I followed the instructions on the site, took the photos with a good digital camera on high resolution, set up the photos with the right proportions for the face, downloaded the JPG photo sheet from the web site and printed them out on photographic paper with a new inkjet printer. The Post Office Check and Send service rejected them as being too low quality and I ended up using the booth instead.

I did this and cropped to size etc, put onto a memory stick and printed them off in the kodak machine in Boots. 9 passport photos for 39p.
  • ePassportPhoto is ok, but it splats a link over the final image which sucks.

As an alternative, try OddPrints. It's free, easy and open source. No ads and no need to sign up or have nasty watermarks on the image etc.

Just upload your photo, choose your passport type (eg UK 45x35mm) then download a new image ready to print at 6"x4".

You can then print your downloaded image in boots for 15p (24hr) or 39p (instant).

That's less than 2p per image
