Help Needed Very Urgently

My brother and I took on a £57000 mortgage in 1987 on the family home to assist with much needed renovations. Not knowing any better we took out endownment mortgage and split it in half. We were advised to take out the mortgage as our parents could not raise the funds due to their age.
My brother has sadly passed away in 2008 and has left all his estate to his partner of 2 years and his baby daughter.
I have been told recently that my grand parents have no claim to the property and that his half share of the property must be given to his partner.
The mortgage was taken out to provide a more comfortable place for all of us to live and all of a sudden we are being told that either we sell and put the rest of us out of home or we try and raise the money to buy his partner out. The house is valued at £525000. Under no circumstances was the mortgage taken out as a business deal.
For twenty three years i have worked hard to ensure that our home has been a safe haven for all the family members and now I feel that due to bad advice and naivety, through age, we will have to bring my grandmother through a court case.
Please can you advise?
